Truck Sales Slump

12/10/07
In figures recently announced, WardsAuto.com shows the sale of heavy-duty trucks sales in the U.S. took a huge dip in October, falling 53.1 percent from the prior year's retail truck sales level. October was just the latest in a string of months - six in all - in which truck sales fell 50 percent or more below the 2006 levels, the auto watch group said.

Contributing to the truck sales slump, the group surmised, was a weak freight market and the fact that truck sales last year were recorded at a record pace.   While many analysts believed the first half of 2007 would be tough for truck manufacturers, most predicted a rebound in the second half.  Clearly, it hasn't started yet.
