1/24/08 For some trucking companies, expenses for diesel have actually been higher than driver wages on their payrolls. For the third week of January, the average price of on-highway diesel fuel prices, which includes both low and ultra-low sulfur and other types of diesels, was $3.27, down about five cents from the prior week but still a whopping 84 cents per gallon higher than it was one year ago. The highest recorded prices for the week were along the East Coast, where the coastal average was $3.343. More specifically, the New England region prices were $3.594, the Central Atlantic region averaged $3.472, and the Lower Atlantic averaged $3.264. The lowest prices were recorded in the Gulf Coast region where the per gallon price averaged $3.222. In other regions, prices were as follows: Midwest, $3.228; Rocky Mountain, $3.229; and the West Coast, $3.327. In the California subset of the West Coast, the average price was $3.360.For more diesel fuel information see: Diesel Continues it's Climb 1/2/08 |
